Näkökulmia onnellisuuteen

BBC uutisoi tanskalaisten olevan Euroopan onnellisinta kansaa. Artikkelissa kerrottiin myös, mistä tämä saattaa johtua ja ansionsa sai tietysti hyvinvointivaltio ja tanskalaisten realistisen rento elämäntyyli. Onnen valtakuntaa saattaa tietysti kohdata välillä myös synkempiä hetkiä:
"If 5% of trains are running late it is a political problem."
Valitettavasti Barkley Rosser paljastaa mahdollisen todellisen syyn:
"My observation of Scandinavians is that there is a certain tendency to conformism and a certain almost guilty sense that one should be happy. So, people say that they are, even though they have these high alcoholism and suicide rates. Who really knows? Some of those latter problems are apparently associated with the seasonal affect disorder happening in the long and dark winters.
But then, if they are getting all that depressed in winters, are they all that happy?"
BBC:n artikkelia koskevaan keskusteluun on osallistunut myös Varsinais Suomen ZeiZei , joka haluaa kertoa, kuka tulikaan toiseksi ja kertoa kunnon perustelut Suomen sijoitukseen. Samalla hän paljastaa, että suomalaiset ovat ainakin rehellisintä kansaa Euroopassa:
"Finland came second, you see. Pretty good ranking for the unhappiest place I know. We have huge rates of unemployment (about double the governement figure), extremely high taxes and very little to show for it. Our wages are usually half those of the British. I've seen most European countries and the Finnish standard of life lags well behind most industrial countries."
